Sound Waves
These longitudinal
waves are created when an object vibrates. The vibrations
produce a series of compression and rarefactions in the air
molecules.
Sound waves require a medium to be transmitted from its source to the
receiver. The speed
of sound varies in the state
of the medium.
In ascending order, the speed of sound increases in
o gas
o liquid
o solid
The speed of sound
is also dependent on the temperature of the medium. The speed of sound
increases with the rise of temperature of the air. Just like
other waves, sound waves also exhibit the following behavior (phenomena)
when they encounter a boundary:
o reflection
o refraction
o diffraction
o interference

Gelombang
membujur ini dihasilkan apabila sesuatu jasad
bergetar. Getaran ini menghasilkan suatu siri mampatan dan
renggangan pada molekul-molekul udara.
Gelombang bunyi
memerlukan bahantara untuk dihantar dari sumber ke penerima. Kelajuan bunyi
dalam bahantara dalam susunan meningkat adalah
o gas
o cecair
o pepejal
Kelajuan
bunyi juga bergantung kepada suhu bahantara. Misalnya, kelajuan
bunyi bertambah dengan peningkatan suhu dalam udara.
Seperti gelombang
lain, bunyi juga menunjukkan fenomena-fenomena berikut apabila ia
bertemu dengan sempadan:
o pantulan
o pembiasan
o pembelauan
o interfere
