Interference of Waves
This is
a wave
phenomenon that happens when two waves meet in a medium. The principle
of superposition
helps us in determining the outcome of the interference.
When two waves having
displacements in the same
direction meet, the result of the superposition would be an increased amplitude
at that part of the medium where
the waves meet. This
interference is known as constructive interference.
When two waves having
displacements in the opposite
direction meet, the result of the superposition would be a decreased amplitude
at that part of the medium where
the waves meet. This
interference is known as destructive interference.
Fenomena
yang berlaku apabila dua gelombang bertemu di
dalam sesuatu medium / bahantara. Kaidah atau
Prinsip Superposisi digunakan untuk membantu kita menentukan hasil
interferens gelombang.
Apabila dua gelombang yang mempunyai sesaran
sama arah
bertemu, hasilnya ialah pertambahan
dalam
amplitud di bahagian
medium / bahantara di mana gelombang
bertemu.
Interferens seperti ini dikenali sebagai interferens membina.
Apabila dua gelombang yang mempunyai sesaran
berlawanan arah
bertemu, hasilnya ialah penyusutan
(pengurangan)
dalam amplitud di
bahagian medium /
bahantara di mana gelombang
bertemu.
Interferens seperti ini dikenali
sebagai interferens membinasa.
