清明 qīng míng
Qing Ming normally falls on
the first week of April. Qing
Ming 清明 qīng míng,
translated literally, is "Clear and Bright Day". It is
also known as "Tomb Sweeping Day" and "All
Souls' Day". This is a festival when Chinese
commemorate their dead. It is also to fulfill one's
filial duties 孝顺的义务 to the ancestors 祖先. Graves are
cleared and food is offered to the dead loved ones
during this special occasion. Fallen soldiers and
heroic figures are also venerated during this
festival.
The Qintong Boat Festival 溱潼会船节 is held in some parts of China during the Qing Ming 清明 to commemorate war victims.
A type of food associated with this festival is the green dumplings, popularly eaten in the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu, China.

Nama perayaan Cina ini diterjemahkan sebagai "Hari Membersihkan Makam". Ia juga dikenali sebagai Hari Perayaan Roh dan ia diadakan untuk memperingati mereka yang telah meninggal. Perayaan ini juga diadakan untuk memberi penghormatan dan ketaatan kepada nenek moyang (dan ibubapa) yang telah meninggal.
