The
Xian-Dunhuang Journey part of the Silk Road (which covers over
1,700km) begins in the historic city of
Xian . Xian is
the capital of the province of Shaanxi. AirAsia flies
from Kuala
Lumpur to
(and fro) Xian
a number of
times a week.
If one were to
arrive late at
the Xian
Xianyang
International
airport, one
could opt to
stay overnight
or a few hours
in one of the airport
sleepboxes before
catching a
flight to
Lanzhou, the
capital of
Gansu
Province.
Alternatively,
one could
spend a few
days in the
capital before
embarking on
the journey to
the west. The
distance from
Xian to
Lanzhou is
over 600km and
it would be a
good idea to
fly.
