Coffee, A Brief History
It
is said that coffee
was originally discovered by a goatherd who lived in Ethiopia. One day, he found
his goats feeding on berries from an unfamiliar bush. Soon
after, the goats were scampering excitedly all over the field.
Curious about the behaviour of his animals, the goatherd then
took some of the berries to the local monastery. The head of the
abbey of monks decided to cook (roast) the berries. When the
heat got to the beans in the berries, a fragrant aroma was
emitted. The abbot then had the brilliant idea to brew the
roasted beans into a drink, what we know today as coffee.
Coffee then spread from Ethiopia
to Europe, Arabia and as far as Sumatra
(famous for its kopi luwak).

Sejarah Ringkas Kopi

Adalah
dikatakan bahawa kopi
ditemui oleh seorang gembala kambing di negara Ethiopia.
Pada suatu hari, kambing-kambing si gembala memakan
beri-beri sebatang pohon yang tidak dikenali. Tidak
lama kemudia, kambing-kambing berlari melompat-lompat
dalam keadaan teruja. Hairan kenapa kambing-kambingya
berkelakuan sedemikian, si gembala mengambil beberapa
beri-beri tersebut ke sebuah biara. Rahib-rahib dalam
biara itu mengambil keputusan untuk memanggang beri-beri
tersebut. Apabila biji-biji kopi dipanaskan, bau harum
kopi dikesan. Rahib-rahib kemudian mendapat idea untuk
membru biji-biji kopi menjadi minuman mereka.
Minuman kopi kemudiannya dari Ethiopia ke
Europah, negeri Arab dan sejauh Sumatra
(yang terkenal dengan kopi luwak
mereka).
