Inertia (Inertial) Balance
A
measuring apparatus used to obtain the mass
of an object.
Essentially, it consists of blades that are clamped horizontally to
the edge of table / bench. A mass attached to the other end of the
blade(s) is then oscillated in a horizontal direction independent of
gravitational force.
The
period of oscillation of the mass, T, is related to the mass. It is
in accordance with the equation
T =
2*Pi*sqrt(m/k)
where
T =
period of oscillation
sqrt
= square root
m =
mass
k =
constant
The
graph of period, T, vs mass, m, would look like this. The greater
the mass, the longer the period.
Neraca Inersia
Neraca
ini digunankan untuk memperolehi jisim sesuatu jasad. Neraca ini
terdiri daripada bilah-bilah logam (gergaji) yang diapitkan kepada
tepi sebuah meja. Suatu beban (jisim) dipasangkan kepada hujung bilah
lain. Beban itu digetarkan secara mengufuk. Getaran ini bebas
daripada pengaruh daya tarikan graviti.
Tempoh
getaran, T, bergantung kepada jisim beban - menurut perhubungan
berikut
T =
2*Pi*punca kuasa dua (m/k)
di
mana
T =
tempoh getaran
m =
jisim
k =
pemalar
Graf
Tempoh, T, melawan jisim, m, ditunjukkan di atas. Apabila jisim, m,
bertambah, tempoh getaran, T, juga turut bertambah.
