File Types
Among the
file types one encounters in when working on a computer or smart
device are
.txt
text file - which can be imported into any word processor or Desktop Publishing (DTP) software or text editor
.rtf
rich text file - can be imported into any word processor; unlike .txt file, some formatting is kept
.doc
document file - opened with the Microsoft word processor, Word
.docx
Microsoft Word XML format Document file
.pdf
portable document format - opened with portable document reader such as Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader
.csv
comma separated values - where data is saved in a table structured format and the file can be imported into any spreadsheet
.xls
This is a spreadsheet filetype created by Microsoft. It stands for eXceL Spreadsheet.
.htm / .html
hypertext marlkup languge - .htm and .html are used interchangeably and are the foundation of webpages
