Constellations
A
constellation is a group of stars
that makes up a perceived picture.
However, different civilisations have formed different
pictures from
the stars
that shine in the night skies. Among the more well known
constellations in the western world are the Orion (the
Hunter), the
Big Dipper and the Southern Cross (also called the Crux).
In the
Oriental world, the Chinese described four mythological
creatures
(constellations) in the skies above them. They are the
Azure Dragon
(Meng Zhang 孟
章),
the
Vermilion Bird (Ling Guang 陵光);
the White Tiger (Jian Bing 監兵)
and the Black Tortoise (Zhi Ming 執明).
Buruj
Buruj
merupakan
kumpulan bintang-bintang
yang membentuk gambar pada minda
manusia. Manusia dalam tamadun yang berbeza melihat bintang-bintang
di langit dengan kaca mata yang berlainan. Oleh yang
demikian, gambar
yang dilihat oleh manusia bertamadun barat termasuk Belantik / Orion (Pemburu),
Biduk / The
Big Dipper,
dan Pari /Southern
Cross.
Di dunia Timur pula, orang Cina pula menghuraikan
empat mahluk mitos
yang berkuasa di langit mereka, iaitu Naga Biru
Lazuardi, Burung
Merah Merona, Harimau Putih dan Kura-kura Hitam.
