without anchovies. The salty taste of the anchovies adds
flavor to the dish. Anchovies are common salt water fish咸 水鱼xián
shuǐ yú(see alsovertebrates).
They feed on plankton浮游生物fú
yóu shēng wùand fish
fry. (A fry is a newly hatched fish.) Although found in
many of the seas and oceans of theEarth,
most anchovies live in temperate waters.One of the
places where the harvest of anchovy is bountiful is
in the Gulf of Thailand. This is especially so after
the monsoon rains季 风降雨jì
fēng jiàng yǔ, when nutrients are
washed from the rivers河héinto
the gulf海湾hǎi
wān.
