This
play 剧作 jù zuò was written by the Greek
playwright Euripides around 400 BCE (four centuries before the
birth of Jesus Christ). It tells about the sacrifice of an
offspring (Iphigenia) by the parent, King Agamemnon, to the Greek goddess
Artemis. Similar themes are found in, among others, the Bible (Abraham,
the father sacrificing his son, Isaac, to the Christian god) and
the movie "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" starring Nicole Kidman.
