Korean Peninsula

The Korean Peninsula, with 8000km of coastline, lies on the
eastern edge of Asia. To the west is the Yellow Sea and to the
east, the Sea of Japan.
Wetlands and mudflats cover the southern part of the peninsula. In
the centre, are mountain ranges and temperate wooded forests. The
east of the peninsula is narrow with jagged edges.
Two
nations, namely
* Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) or
North Korea 北朝鲜 běi cháo xiǎn
and
* Republic of Korea (ROK) or
South Korea 韩国 hán guó
occupy this peninsula.
The peninsula is over 1100km long and at its narrowest
part is about 200km wide.
