生 物多元化 shēng wù duō yuán huà
The word "biodiversity" is made up of two parts:
o bio - the prefix meaning life or living things
and
o diversity - which means variety, assortment or a lot of differences.
Put it simply, biodiversity 生物多元化 shēng wù duō yuán huà means the variety of life (including the plants 植 物 zhí wù and animals 动 物 dòng wù) on Earth. Sometimes known as biological diversity, it is important to maintain a balanced environment.
