A constitution is a system of basic laws and principles on which a country is governed. The Constitution is usually considered the Supreme Law of a country. In the case of Malaysia, the Constitution is made up of 181 articles. An article is a discrete unit or section of writing. Often, articles are numbered - as in the case of the Malaysian Constitution.
An independent commission (a group of people having administrative, legislative, or judicial powers) known as the Reid Commission was responsible for the drafting of the constitution in 1956 and 1957 (before the country Malaya achieved independence from Britain). Amendments were later made to the constitution during the formation of Malaysia.
Perlembagaan Malaysia
Sebuah perlembagaan merupakan sistem undang-undang dan prinsip-prinsip yang menjadi lunas kepada pentadbiran sesebuah negara. Sebuah perlembagaan lazimnya dianggap sebagai undang- undang teragung sesebuah negara. Dalam kes negara Malaysia, perlembagaannya terdiri daripada 181 artikel. Sebuah artikel ialah seunit rencana atau perkara yang diskret (bersendirian). Biasanya, artikel-artikel diberikan nombor - seperti juga dalam Perlembagaan Malaysia.
Sebuah suruhanjaya bebas (kumpulan orang yang mempunyai kuasa pen- tadbiran, undang-undang dan kehakiman) yang dikenali sebagai Suruhanjaya Reid bertanggungjawab untuk mendrafkan perlembagaan kemerdekaan pada tahun 1956 dan 1957. Pindaan-pindaan telah dibuat kepada perlembagaan tersebut semasa pembentukan negara Malaysia.
