Fishbone Diagram
This
technique is used in problem solving and also in planning. It is
also useful in writing and in reading (for more effective
comprehension). For example, one can employ (use) the fishbone
diagram to help one plan for self-study. It involves the 4Ms and 1
E as illustrated below.
Method
This would include the ways one would use to self study. For example, would the student study independently, at home, in a designated place, with or without the help of a tutor / facilitator?
Man
Who would be helping the student in the course? Parents, friends, tutor/facilitator?
Machine
What would the student use to aid his / her study? Personal computer, tablet, smart phone (or a combination of all three)?
Materials
What books, notes, exercises and assessments would the student require?
Environment
What would be the most conducive place or places for the student to carry out the self-study course?
