This
principle helps explain the buoyancy of an object in a medium,
such as water.
The Principle states that an object that is fully or partially
immersed in a liquid (water)
experiences a buoyant force that is
equal to the weight of the medium (water)
displaced. The equation of the buoyant force
is given as follows
U
= ⍴Vg
where U
= upthrust or buoyant force ⍴ =
density
of the medium (such as water) g
= acceleration
due to gravity
If
the weight of the object, W, is greater than the buoyant force,
U, the object sinks.
If the weight of the object, W, is less than the buoyant force,
U, the object floats.

Prinsip
ini
menghuraikan keapungan suatu jasad / objek dalam suatu
bahantara, umpamanya air.
Prinsip ini menyatakan bahawa sesuatu jasad yang
direndamkan separa atau sepenuhnya dalam suatu cecair
(misalnya air)
akan mengalami daya
apung. Magnitud daya
apung ini adalah bersamaan berat cecair (air)
yang disesarkan. Persamaan bagi daya
apung adalah seperti berikut:
Sekiranya
berat
jasad, W, lebih besar daripada daya apung, U, jasad akan
tenggelam.
Sekiranya berat jasad, W, kurang daripada daya apung, U,
jasad akan terapung.
