Passion flower vines are cultivated in Cameron
Highlands,
Malaysia,
among other tropical regions. From the vines (plants),
come the passion fruit (as shown in the photo above). The name of
the flower is said to have originated from "The Passion of the
Christ".
The "Passion of the Christ" is the term given to the period
between ♰ the
juncture when Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem for the final time
and ♰ the
moment he was crucified (see also Good Friday).
When Christian missionaries first saw the passion flower in South
America, it looked to them like the crown of thorns placed on the
head of Jesus during his crucifixion (see also Good Friday).
