Sedan Chair
A
sedan chair is enclosed (covered) and it seats one person. The
person, in the chair, is carried by porters. Porters would normally
be from the poorer section of the society. They carry the wealthier
ones on the sedan chair by placing horizontal poles on their
shoulders. In China
past, a bride would usually be carried in a sedan chair to the husband-to-be.
