Alzheimer's
Disease attacks the brain. It can be fatal. Brain cells - also called
neurons - are destroyed causing the sufferer to lose memory and have
problems in thinking and behaving. Scientists are still unsure about
the reasons why the neurons fail to function and eventually die.
Alzheimer's Disease usually begins after the age of 60. It starts
slowly and then the symptoms worsen as time goes on.
Penyakit Alzheimer menyerang sel-sel otak manusia. Sel-sel otak, yang juga dikenali sebagai neuron, binasa dan ini mengakibatkan penghidap penyakit Alzheimer kehilangan ingatan.
Masalah yang juga sering dihadapi oleh penghidap-penghidap adalah pemikiran yang merosot dan kelakuan yang luarbiasa. Ahli-ahli sains masih tidak pasti kenapa sel-sel neuron otak penghidap gagal berfungsi dan akhirnya mati. Penyakit Alzheimer lazimnya bermula selepas umur 60. Pada awalnya, ia bermula secara perlahan dan simptom-simptom penyakit ini merosot dengan masa.
