Porta De Santiago, also known as A' Famosa is a fortress in Melaka which was built by the Portugese occupation many hundred years ago. After the Dutch landed in Melaka, A' Famosa continued to play its role but was renovated and rebuilt by the Dutch. However, after the British took over Melaka from the Dutch, they destroyed three out of four main portals of the for, hence leaving only Porta De Santiago standing til this day.
