Solid State

Solid state devices are electronic devices with parts that do not move. These are devices without laser beams (like CD drives), spinning magnetic discs (hard disk drives), or turning tapes (magnetic tapes). Solid state devices store data using a type of Electronically-Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) known as flash memory.
Flash memory can be erased and rewritten. Flash memory is non-volatile and retains data even without power.
