"Herd mentality" is also known as "mob mentality". This psychological behaviour describes how people are easily influenced by a large crowd or by their peers. The idea comes from animals in herds such as buffaloes. If a small group of buffaloes is made to move in one direction, the others in the herd would follow suit. Herd mentality in humans can be seen in situations such as these: when there is a sale at a mall, when there is an introduction of a new smart phone, and when panic overcomes a small crowd in a stadium. 

       
      


Mentaliti sekawan juga dikenali sebagai psikologi kelompok-rusuh. Kelakuan ini menghuraikan bagaimana sesetengah manusia senang dipengaruhi oleh kumpulan yang besar atau oleh rakan sebaya mereka. Idea ini berasal daripada haiwan-haiwan berkelompok, seperti kerbau. Sekiranya sekumpulan kecil kerbau didorong untuk bergerak dalam suatu arah, kerbau-kerbau yang lain akan turut bersama. Mentaliti sekawan dapat dilihat apabila terdapat jualan murah di pasaraya, apabila telefon bimbit baru diperkenalkan dan apabila sebilangan penonton dalam stadium diserang rasa panik.
