Dominoes
are pieces of blocks that have dots or pips on one of the surfaces.
When dominoes are arranged standing in a row close to one another, an
interesting effect can be observed if a small amount of force
(push) is applied to only ONE piece. When that one domino falls, the
rest will fall, too, one after another.
The phrase "domino effect" means an event that causes another event of
the same sort, which then leads to a string of similar events to
happen.
An example of a domino effect is the delay in a flight that causes
other flights to be delayed as well.
Domino merupakan
kepingan blok-blok yang mempunyai tanda-tanda titik pada satu
permukaannya. Apabila domino-domino disusun berdiri dalam satu
barisan dekat satu sama lain, jika satu domino jatuh, yang lain
juga akan turut bersama.
Frasa ini bermaksud sesuatu peristiwa yang menyebabkan satu
peristiwa yang serupa, yang pula akan membawa kepada
peristiwa-peristiwa yang serupa untuk berlaku.
Satu contoh kesan domino ialah kelewatan satu penerbangan kapal
terbang yang mengakibatkan kelambatan penerbangan-penerbangan
lain.
