Ho Chi Minh City 胡志明市 hú zhì míng shì or simply HCMC - and formally known as Saigon - is located in the south of Vietnam. Together with the rest of Vietnam, HCMC was colonized by the French (until 1945), occupied by the Japanese and warred upon by the Americans. Today, HCMC is the largest city in one of the world's fastest growing economies. Besides its history, HCMC is famous for its food (especially street food), coffee (ca phe suoi da), French colonial architecture, people and culture (including but not limited to its coffee culture and baguette culture).
